Irons established MDS in August of 1987. The business is what is
typically known in the transportation industry as a “niche
carrier”. We primarily service the transportation industry itself
as an interline carrier to northern Ontario for many of the
“household” names in both the courier and LTL sectors. On
behalf of these carriers we currently deliver more than 300 LTL
shipments and 14,000 packages per day.
We have established MDS
terminals in Mississauga, Barrie, Bracebridge, North Bay,
Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie & Timmins. We also have a satellite
location in Thunder Bay in partnership with Williams
Transportation. Our P&D fleet consists of
approximately 80 owner operators and 30 company owned and
employee driven trucks of which 16 are tractors pulling over 55
trailers.
Head office is located at our Bracebridge
facility. Each terminal is staffed with a Terminal Manager, a
lead hand, 2 or 3 clerks and 4 or 5 warehousemen and 15 to 25
P&D runs.
